Dr. Anniek de Jong is an Environmental Microbiologist at Deltares, specialized in microbial water quality and its impact on human health. Her expertise lies in the detection of antibiotics, antibiotic resistance, and pathogens in water systems. Anniek has contributed to numerous projects on surface, swimming, and drinking water quality, both in the Netherlands and internationally. She develops and applies innovative detection methods for use in both laboratory and field settings. By advancing analytical techniques and practical solutions, and with data obtained in projects, she supports authorities at local, national, and regional levels in improving water quality and safeguarding public health. In the BlueAdapt project, Anniek supervises the PhD research of Franco Forlano Bo about the interactions between Vibrio spp and algal blooms.
