Camilla Puccinelli is at the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS), holding a PhD in Ecology and Biological Resources Management (2011). For BlueAdapt she is informing a range of research including two Italian case studies, the catchment-to-coast model on microbial pollution, and the development of bespoke tools.
Camilla is an expert in diatom taxonomy, specialising in teratological forms due to environmental stressors, aquatic ecosystems, and the use of diatoms in forensic diagnosis of drowning. She’s also an expert in environmental water quality assessments, the application of GIS systems in the study of pollutant sources, the assessment of non-point pollution impacts on aquatic ecosystems, and the quality assurance and accreditation of ecological and ecotoxicological tests including.
Previously Camilla has worked on the Water Framework Directive 2000/60/EC, and has advised the national WG “Harmonization of Biological Methods” and the European " Geographical Intercalibration Groups” among Member States. Currently she is involved in the Working Group Water Scarcity. She also worked on the BlueHealth project (Horizon 2020).
