Franco Forlano Bo is a PhD candidate at Deltares in Utrecht, The Netherlands.
Franco completed his bachelor studies at the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona with a degree in Microbiology. From there, he moved to The Netherlands where he completed a Master specialising in Microbiology at the Radboud University. This focused on environmental microbiology and microbial ecology.
On BlueAdapt Franco will be studying bacterial coastal pathogens, focusing on understanding the interaction between Vibrio spp and algal blooms. Later on, he will study how climate change affects these interactions and the possible dangers that this could have on human health.
Franco’s main interest is to understand the impact of microorganisms on the environment and on human health, especially in different climate change scenarios.
