Manu Soto Lopez is Professor of Cell Biology in the Dept. of Zoology and Animal Cell Biology at the UPV/EHU, holding a PhD in Biological Sciences. Manu is a researcher for the Consolidated Research Group Cell Biology in Environmental Toxicology and completed research studies in Wales (Aberystwyth & Cardiff), Innsbruck (Austria), Azores (Portugal). He has supervised 9 PhDs (4 more in progress) and 30 MSc Thesis. Manu’s interests include the development and application of biomarkers in aquatic and terrestrial organisms at different levels of biological complexity after exposure to metals, plastics, antibiotics and other contaminants. He has published over 130 papers and book chapters (>85% in Q1; H= Index= 31), and contributed to more than 300 national and international conferences. He is PI of research projects funded by the Spanish Ministry of Education, Economy, Competitivity, Univ Basque Country, Basque Government (Saiotek & Etortek Programs), and contracts with municipalities, state and local environmental agencies and private companies. He has worked as Deputy Director of the Research Centre for Experimental Marine Biology and Biotechnology (Plentzia Marine Station) since 2012. Manu is also Coordinator of Erasmus Mundus Master “Marine Environment” at UPV/EHU (2012-).
