Shelagh Malham is a Professor in Marine Biology specialising in shellfish focusing on pathogens (bacteria and viruses) behaviour in estuarine and marine systems (water, sediment, shellfish) and understanding environmental and anthropogenic impacts on shellfish whilst ensuring sustainability.

Research takes a holistic multidisciplinary applied approach from understanding ecological processes and functions to climate change and societal impacts on ecosystem services in relation to shellfish, environment and human health.
