Sonja Wanke is an ecosystem-based management researcher and advisor at Deltares. She has an MSc in Environmental and Resource Management. Her multi-disciplinary background allows her to link marine environments to policy questions and ocean governance challenges.

Sonja has experience in several components of Marine Spatial Planning, Blue Economy and Natural Capital, including expertise in integrated multi-trophic aquaculture, ecosystem services assessments, services development, and stakeholder engagement. In her work she uses a systems approach to develop frameworks and system diagrams for different stakeholders. This aids the integration of the natural system in sustainable marine and coastal development and adaptive planning processes.
