Introduction

We’re creating a set of BlueAdapt adaption tools and resources that can help policy makers make informed decisions about the risk of infection and increased antimicrobial resistance in coastal areas. This will include how climate change affects these risks.

To make sure that the tools are evidence-based and user-centered, we’re collaborating with prospective users, stakeholders, and experts in technology, science and policy. Together, we’re developing tools that can be used to support different environments and communities.

The toolkit will include a prediction and early warning system. We’ll combine information about weather, ocean conditions and the environment with data about disease-causing microorganisms. This will allow us to give short-term predictions about where these pathogens might be and how they might change over time.

The impact

This set of guidance and tools will help policy makers take evidence-based action to prevent people from being exposed to contaminated water, helping to protect public health and the environment.
